Little Boy

Cade got his first haircut today!  It's sad to say that he really no longer looks like a baby, but is definitely looking like a little boy.  His hair was so long and unruly - we decided that the time had come to cut some of it off.  I know, it's early, but boy does he look ever so handsome now :)  Unfortunately mama didn't get to see his first haircut, but daddy was there with camera in hand!  He went to Maggie at Salon Blu and she did a wonderful job (like always)!  He was such a hit with all the staff and the customers.  Daddy has become quite the chick magnet when he's out with the little man :)

In love with the baby in the mirror!

We hope everyone has an awesome weekend.  We're starting the countdown until we are home again - under 2 weeks :)  We can't wait to see everyone!!

A Weekend Of Firsts

Sunday again? Back to work tomorrow?  Let's rewind to Thursday night and start our weekend all over again!  The hardest part about being a working mama is having t go to work and leave this beautiful face behind.  It feels like my time with him is over as quickly as I can snap my fingers, but it puts everything into perspective and makes me treasure every single second I have with this sweet boy!

Cade started crawling scooting across the floor today!  He's finally figured out that he can get places a lot quicker that way instead of rolling everywhere.  It's the cutest thing to watch :)

We did Cade's six month pictures this weekend and I cannot wait to see them :)  We had such cute ideas and I'm sure Traci made them look amazing!  She also mentioned the concept of baby led weaning (BLW) to us, which after much research, we decided to give a try tonight. You can learn more about it here, but the basics are to let your baby learn to chew first rather than swallow as with traditional purees.  You teach your baby to feed themselves and apparently they become less picky eaters later on.  So here goes nothing!  Now, what to do with all the purees in my freezer?!

Cousin Love

Little Natalee came to visit!  We were so excited that Meemaw and Poppy brought Natalee down to NC to visit with us.  We all had so much fun getting frozen yogurt, going to Marbles Museum and playing at the playground. If only they could have stayed longer we could have had another beach trip!

They might kill us for this picture someday!

Can't get enough of this smile :)
Life here has been pretty uneventful.  After a long, stressful week at work, I am THRILLED to get three days off with my little man (and my hubby too)!  We are doing Cade's six month photo shoot tomorrow with the talented Traci from T&T Photography and we can't wait!  We are hoping the weather cooperates with us so we can get outside for some of the pictures.  Cade is also getting his first tooth!  He's been a little bit of a fussy pants, but overall he seems to be tolerating it pretty well.  He's also attempting to get mobile - I have a feeling he's going to be a crawling monster any day now!

Half Year Mark

Half a year, six months, twenty-six weeks. Oh.my.goodness.  How is it possible that this child is this old already?  Nobody ever tells you how quickly the time flies by with a little one - just a year ago we were 12 weeks pregnant and making the announcement (which took some a while to figure out, I won't name names!) to some of our family.  Look at this adorable little face now, I absolutely cannot get enough of him :)

We had our six month checkup on Friday and it went really well.  Our little chunky monkey's stats look like this:
  • Height: 25.25" (6th percentile)
  • Weight: 16lbs 7.4oz (31st percentile)
  • Head: 16.6" (19th percentile)
He had another round of shots and I tell you that this boy is becoming a champ.  He took the first injection without a tear, but got a little angry with the second injection (and who would blame him, it looked painful)!  He did really well today despite having 2 big welts on each leg .. he was still as happy go lucky as ever.

He still loves playing with his blocks and is completely obsessed with all the animals.  He grabs them at any chance he gets (despite mama and daddy having a heart attack when he grabs the dogs - we all know what those bites feel like).  Shortbread is the one who tolerates him the most, letting him pet grab her and pull her wherever he can.  He absolutely loves bath time. He can be fussy, cranky and miserable, but you put him in the bath and he's as happy as ever.  He's also discovered that he has man parts and loves to play with his junk already (typically man, I suppose).  He's still wearing out the springs in his jumparoo (his feet aren't reaching the floor yet) and loving life in general.

We haven't started pureed food yet :(  The doctor thinks that he's doing great with breast milk and doesn't see a need for real food yet because he's still getting all he needs from the milk.  I will admit I was kinda really bummed out about that because I was ready to go after the appointment.  We will see how things go and who knows, we may be starting it soon just to change things up a bit!

Enjoy the last few pictures of one of his favorite times of day - BATH TIME!

Guard Dog (he's really crying for me to let him in and play with the water)

Everyone loves to eat clean toes, right?
