28 Weeks

We've finally reached the 3rd trimester!  Time has just been flying by.  Cade is about the size of an eggplant this week (and a very large eggplant if I might add).  He can weigh anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 lbs and be as long as 14.8 inches.  Cade can now open his eyes and his lungs are maturing.  He's also packing on the fat so he'll look more like a little baby instead of a wrinkly old man when he comes out :P

We're super excited to make the trek home tomorrow for the holidays!  I can't wait to see everyone at the shower on Saturday :)  Cade is definitely going to feel a lot of love!

This week's projects included lots of artwork for Cade's room.  It was all very easy and I think it turned out great!  We just need to get some shelves now to put all the cute little decorations on.

27 Weeks 1 Day

Happy 27 Weeks!  This is the last week in our second trimester and we now have 90 days to go until our due date!  We have officially decided on a name this week - as the board indicated we have chosen Cade (middle name is still under discussion, but will more than likely be Robert).  We're trying to get used to calling him by his name instead of all the other nicknames we have devised :)

This week Cade is the size of a rutabaga (which in case you were wondering is a cross between a cabbage and a turnip).  He can weigh up to 2.5 pounds and is approximately 14.8 inches long.  He's starting to show brain activity this week and is still practicing inhaling and exhaling!  He's an active little bugger too - it's such an awesome feeling when he starts squirming around in there :)

Here's a picture of our ikea bookshelf turned changing table (the frame and canvas will be up on the wall).  Now I'm deciding whether or not we should paint it - unfortunately Ikea's idea of white and our idea of white are not the same :(

I was busy sewing again this week ... I made another blanket for him (this one is much smaller than the first one) and 12 burp cloths.  Whew ... it was exhausting!  I've also been trying to make Christmas cookies in my spare time to prepare for the holidays!  They're going to be here before we know it.  I can't believe that we'll be home in a week to celebrate Thanksgiving and our shower!  Time is sure flying by :)  We're looking forward to seeing everyone in a week!

26 weeks 4 days

We're down to double digits now until Baby W's arrival (94 days to be exact, but who's counting)!  This week baby is the size of a head of lettuce - although he looks and feels like a basketball :O

The baby can be anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 pounds now and up to 14.8 inches in length.  His eyes are forming and will soon start opening.  Eyelashes are now fully formed as well.  He's also practicing his breathing skills (even though there's no air to take in yet)!

I'm still feeling great.  I was bad about answering previous comments, but my sleep is still really good (knock on wood) and I still can get around and exercise like normal (even though it may take a little more out of me)!  The only issue that I've run into so far is a little bit of back trouble, but I'm sure it's from standing for 8+ hours a day and all the weight being in front of me :)

I had to take a picture of the adorable car seat - I'm in LOVE with it!  I also have to give a big thanks to Aunt Molly, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Joe and Grandma for this and the other car seat accessories.  Silly Amazon didn't do a good job at listing everyone that was so generous!  Can't wait to see the little one in this!

I was busy last week with some sewing projects - I made Baby W his first baby blanket - it's not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty good for my first try :)  I sure hope he loves it as much as me!

We were lucky to get away this weekend to Asheville.  We went on an awesome hike Saturday morning @ the NC Arboretum and then spent the afternoon walking around shopping.  We had such a fun time and it was nice to get away for a few days!  Asheville is a great place for vegans/vegetarians - they had so many food options for us, it was fantastic!  We also found this cute children's book about being vegetarian which will hopefully help Baby W understand the choices that we've made :)
